Tree pruning

You may want to prune your trees to improve their health, let light into your property, encourage new growth, or simply for ornamental reasons - we do it all.

Crown clearing, lifting, thinning and height reductions are effective ways to maintain the health of your trees while still getting the desired result. Our honest and trusted professionals will do what is best for your trees and shrubs, while using the correct tools for the job.

Tree Removal

At Green Matter we love our trees, but when they become dangerous or diseased, tree removal may be necessary for safety. The root systems of large trees can become disruptive to infrastructure. They may also cause trip hazards on lawns and footpaths. We only have qualified arborists on site for your tree removal needs. This ensures that the job is done correctly, and efficiently. Tree removal can be a dangerous process so it is best to leave it to experienced professionals. Our 9 cube truck, 12 inch chipper, and AVANT front loader will efficiently remove all waste from your property. If you would like to keep the mulch or wood chip, this is also an option.

Hedging

Hedges help to create shelter for your property and garden. They also act as an attractive fence or edging. If your hedge height has become too hard to manage, or you simply want a tidy up, then we can help. You may want to reduce the entire height of your hedge to let in more light, or regain a lost outlook. Regular hedge trimming on the sides of your hedge can help to encourage new growth. We will endeavour to help your struggling hedges fill out, and become a dense, attractive barrier once more. Hedge trimming requires the correct tools so that you acquire a desired clean finish, we have those on hand to help.

Stump Grinding

We understand that there are various reasons for tree removal. A dead, dying or diseased tree. A hazardous tree. Possibly tree removal for future planning and landscaping, but now what? That pesky stump. We are happy to help. Stump grinding is a good option for a variety of reasons - inhibiting insects and pest control, landscaping, curb appeal, or simply saving your stubbed toes and lawn mower blades. As our stump grinder is on tracks it cannot access all sites, but we are more than happy to come out and have a look to assess what can be done.

Land / Section Clearing

Purchased new land? Or possibly you want to create some extra space for expansion or development. We can help to clear trees before works commence. An overgrown section can become overwhelming to manage. Tricky access, lack of time, and the wrong equipment can make small projects drag on for months. With the right equipment we can complete the job without breaking your back, or the bank. Our AVANT front loader helps to complete jobs with ease. Powerful, agile and compact, it is the perfect addition to transport larger limbs or logs.

Flax, Toi Toi and Pampas removal.

I think we can all agree that Flax creates a good shelter and looks great to begin with, but then starts to spread, and become quite invasive. It is heavy and difficult to remove by hand, and once it is out of the ground you are left with ‘rubbish’ that has be disposed of.

Flax, Toi Toi, and Pampas grasses are extremely heavy and stubborn, but fortunately we have to machine for the job. The AVANT allows us to rip out the plants quickly and efficiently. Unlike digging them out, we can shake off excess soil with the machine, meaning less weight and mess for disposal.

Arborist Mulch*

Mulch is great for moisture retention, soil health, weed prevention and visual appeal. If we are already working on your property, we are happy to leave all mulch and wood chip on site. This is a great way to reuse, and recycle the green waste that we remove from existing trees, shrubs and hedges.

At Green Matter we do not chip fibrous waste such as Yukka, Palm or Bamboo. This ensures that you will receive high quality, pest free mulch.

Mulch Supply
Our Arborist mulch is subject to availability. We offer free delivery within a 10km radius of our yard in Matakana.

Half a bin of arborist mulch (approx 4 cubes) is sold between = $70 - $100 + GST
A full bin of Arborist mulch (approx 8 cubes) is sold between = $140 - $200 + GST.

*We do not have any mulch stock piled currently, please get in contact directly and we can add you to the ‘list’ for fresh drop offs when we are looking to offload. Cost will depend on the quality and grade of the mulch available.
